has scores
of writers/performers. Through networking, advertising in
the newsletters,
critiques or other RISA events you may find a musical collaborator.
PERFORMANCE
OPPORTUNITIES
Either
as part of a RISA event or referred to other organizations
or venues by
RISA, there are many opportunities to perform your original
work.
RECORDINGS
RISA
has produced a live CD of songs written by members,
"Round
3 - Volume
1:

Collection Of Songs Written For The
RISA Songwriters In The Round Shows.
Recorded Live At AS220".
Another
is already recorded and due to be released soon
and
other CD projects are forthcoming
NETWORKING
Either
with RISA members or through related RISA events and alliances,
RISA provides many useful networking opportunities.
EXPOSURE
RISA
projects, events and members have gained exposure through
radio,
television, newspapers, recordings and performances.
RISA released the
"Songwriters
in the Raw 2007 Calendar" which
gave some members a LOT
of exposure in the calendar and the media!
WORKSHOPS
AND SEMINARS
RISA
sponsors workshops and seminars either with RISA members
sharing
their knowledge or by bringing in outside speakers. Topics
have ranged from
promotion, live sound workshops, recording, publishing to
writing great lyrics.
Featured speakers such as Grammy
Award winner, Julie Gold, and
pop
writer, Jason
Bloom,
have given workshops for RISA. Members receive
free or discounted admission to these events.
OPEN
MIKES
RISA
member Buddy
Caveleri runs
a regular open mike at the Oak
Hill Tavern and
other members run or host open mikes at various locations
around the state.
RISA tries to support all open
mikes and
lists them on this site.
WEBSITE
An
informational website giving you the latest RISA info as
well as links to
other RISA artists and music info sites.
HELP
BUILD A MUSIC COMMUNITY
You
may have heard "it takes a village to raise a child",
well it takes a strong
music community to make positive things happen and RISA is
the heart of
that community. We need your input ideas and support just
as much as you
need ours!
ORGANIZATIONAL
ALLIANCES AND MEMBERSHIPS
RISA
has forged alliances with or as a group joined many local,
regional and
national organizations (The National Folk Alliance, Hear
In Rhode Island, Inc.)
which increases the networking and performance opportunities
for all
members.
FREE
ADMISSION OR REDUCED RATES TO EVENTS
A
RISA membership provides free access to critiques, meetings
and some
workshops. RISA members receive discounted admission to special
RISA
events that require admission costs.
YAHOO
GROUP
A Yahoo
group is
available for the dissemination of information.
An "E-Newsletter" is transmitted weekly to e-mail
group members.
ALL
WRITING LEVELS
From
novice to professional we welcome all levels of writers to
join and participate.

music you may have (never) heard as part of RISA. It's all
a lot of fun, but
serious music business at the same time! All Types of Music: A
good song
is a good song and good songwriting applies across the board.
We
welcome and encourage writers of all genres to join

surprisingly, many members have become great friends...and
we have
even had occasions of relationships blossoming from RISA...
