The Rhode Island Songwriters Association (RISA) Board would like to congratulate all the contestants of the 1st Annual RISA Performing Songwriter Contest.  The finals were held at the Stone Soup Coffeehouse in Pawtucket, RI on Saturday May 4th.

Mike Laureanno, of Fall River, Mass (currently living in Providence) took top honors! Mike will have the opportunity to be an 'opening' act at the Stone Soup Coffeehouse in their 2014 Fall/Winter schedule.

Our finalists were RISA members Lenny Solomon, Jane Fallon and Mike Laureanno who each performed their 2 songs as the lead off to the Catie Curtis Concert this past weekend.  Catie had the final task of judging each song for lyrics and the songwriting craft as well as their overall performance. She said it was a very difficult job.

All members who had submitted to the contest were listened to by our music industry professionals, John Maillioux of Bongo Beach Productions, Dave Corriea of Celebration Sounds Studio and Patrick Norton of the Narrows Center for the Arts.

Congratulations to all who participated in this event!
