RISA is pronounced- "RISE-A"
It stands for Rhode Island Songwriters Association.

To encourage, foster and conduct the art and craft of original lyrical and musical composition; provide educational programs, critique sessions and performance opportunities for all artistic styles; and support open collaboration within the RISA community.

The Rhode Island Songwriters Association (RISA) was founded in 1993 by a small group of individuals dedicated to the art of songwriting. They met weekly to share songs and experiences as songwriters. As interest in the group grew, so did the RISA membership. With growth came visibility and a broader mission - to establish a songwriting community that would not only nurture Rhode Island and Southeastern New England songwriters, but showcase their many talents as writers, musicians and performers.

RISA's membership now includes songwriters and performers as well as "non-musicians/writers" who support the goals of the organization. The membership has worked countless hours to earn a place within Rhode Island's diverse cultural community.

The Rhode Island Songwriters Association is a recognized 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.
RISA operates with the assistance of member dues, donations and with the help of member volunteers. Donations and volunteers are always welcome. All donations are tax deductible.

You don't have to be a songwriter! You can just love the music and want to be a part of it. Be involved in meetings, planning, events, critiques, open mics and more. It's a great way to be part of a musical community even if you are not a writer or musician. Non-musicians/writers are always a great help and asset to the organization! Any instruments, voice, etc...
