About RISA

RISA is the Rhode Island Songwriters Association. Our mission is to encourage, foster and conduct the art and craft of original lyrical and musical composition; provide educational programs, critique sessions and performance opportunities for all artistic styles; and support open collaboration within the RISA community.

Privacy Policy

RISA collects the information you provide at time of membership renewal and event registrations solely for the purpose of operating RISA and delivery of the Activities you participate in and electronic communication you receive. This information may need to be shared with Directors of RISA and volunteers (who all agree to be bound by a code of conduct which includes protection of member information) but only as needed for the delivery of those specific Activities or communications. RISA does not sell or use your data for any other purpose. RISA does not itself collect or hold payment or credit card or banking information.

Activities means any RISA organized event including, but not limited to, concerts, workshops, social gatherings, songwriting critiques, membership meetings. or any other activity or undertaking which can be reasonably related to our mission.

Collection

All the data we collect, and hold can be seen in your online profile when you log into the RISA website (this includes your personal information at membership renewal, event registration and invoice history). Note payment information is not collected or managed by RISA but separate PCI compliant payment provider(s).

Use

Personal data is used solely for the delivery of RISA Activities and communications and to produce summary statistics of membership activity to monitor and adjust the Activities we deliver. Personal data will only be shared outside of RISA with verified 3rd party vendors where it is specifically required to execute functions directly related to RISA activities and programs. Data shared will be limited only to data fields required.

Disclosure

• Information is only disclosed to Directors and volunteers of RISA who are subject to our volunteer code of conduct,

• For participation in an event, a member’s event specific registration information may need to be disclosed to the external venue or host in order for them to deliver that event.

• Within your profile you may choose which information you wish to share in your profile with the general public and/or other members and at time of event registration you can choose if your participation in an event is visible to other members and the public. Within your online profile you can also choose to opt out of all electronic communications.

Retention

At your request, or when you cease to be a member, RISA will delete your personal information from our web site. RISA may retain some information for a minimum of 7 years in line with our taxation and audit requirements to do so.

Access

All information you provided as a member of RISA is accessible in your profile when you log into the RISA website, including all event registration and invoice information.

Photographs and Video

Photographs and video are often taken at events and during regular programming and used on social media and for promotional purposes. If any member would like an image of themselves removed they may contact RISA.

Children's Privacy

Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please Contact Us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from anyone under the age of 13 without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers.
